Overview

Vanda possesses several compounds that may offer meaningful benefits to patients, clinicians, and payors.

Iloperidone (phase III completed)

Iloperidone is a 5HT2/D2 antagonist ("atypical") antipsychotic under development for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and other psychiatric conditions. Vanda licensed iloperidone in 2004 from Novartis Pharma AG. Phase III trials for iloperidone are complete and Vanda has filed a new drug application (NDA) with the FDA.

VEC-162 (phase II/III)

VEC-162 is a melatonin agonist under development for the treatment of sleep disorders (insomnia, circadian rhythm sleep disorders) and mood disorders (including depression). Vanda licensed VEC-162 from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in 2004. Vanda has completed phase II for VEC-162 in insomnia and, completed phase III trials in transient insomnia, and will be initiating a phase III trial in chronic insomnia.

VSF-173

VSF-173 is a compound of unknown mechanism of action, that appears promising for excessive sleepiness associated with sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and shift worker sleep disorder. Vanda licensed VSF-173 from Novartis Pharma AG. Vanda has initiated a phase II trial for this compound.

In addition to these compounds, Vanda has acquired and/or is evaluating other candidates for clinical development.
